Radio Certificate (ROC-A)

To operate a radio on board an aircraft, as well aviation-related fixed or mobile stations, you require a Restricted Operator Certificate with Aeronautical Qualification (ROC-A) as issued by Industry Canada. This certificate is available to those of any nationality (citizenship)and age, and is obtained through examination by written, practical and/or oral exercises.

You must satisfy an examiner that you can operate radio equipment safely, and posses a general knowledge of operating procedures and regulations such as the Radiocommunication Act. ACE helps consolidate the examples of radio work you experience by developing your underlying knowledge of why aeronautical radios are operated the way they are.
